Alas Kedaton Temple
Alas Kedaton Temple also often called “Dalem Kahyangan” Temple (Kahyangan means “Nirvana/Paradise”), is located at the South of Menalun village, district of Marga Tabanan regency or about 15 km from Denpasar to the North-West. It can easily be reached by motored vehicles and the road signs are sufficiently clear.
- There are two main attractions of Alas Kedaton Temple :
- Monkey and giant bat inhabitants.
- The maint emple as holy place with its main courtyard
located on the lower level of the outer yards.
Viewed from some hitsorical and archaelogical remains found
in the temple/ it can be classified into two periods of time :
A part is the remains of pre-historic time or megalithics,while the other part is from the initial era of Hindu influence in Ball or it can be considered about 300 years ago or longei regarding to all those megalithic remains.
The temple is adhered by about 500 fanilies of Kukul
traditional village. The temple’s anniversary called “Odalan” falls at every 21( days according to the Balinese calendar, with specific time of rituals started at midday and should be finished befon sunset time.
The temple is always crowded by either foreign or domestic visitors everyday even more during holidays with sufficient
facilities like : extensive parking area, clean toilet, electricity, telecommunication kiosk, clean tap-water and rows of souvenir shops with attractive displays.
