Batukaang Village
Batukaang Village is located at the height of 1.150 metres above sea level. So that the temperature is quite mild the same as that at Batur Resort. Batukaang means that this village is located at the rocky hills. There is an archeological remains in the form of 188 statues which are still believed as sacred by the local people according to the result of a research carried out by the official of Ball Government of cultural office, in which is stated that this village holds a kind of belief which is the harmonious combination between meghalitical beliefs, the anchestor worship and the worship of Gods as manifestation of Hyang Widhi. After the entrance of Hindu influence, there have recently been built Holy buildings in the form of “Candi” (Shrine), “meru” (storey -roofed-shrine), etc.
The developing art inherited by the people of Batukaang,still has a close relation with the religious activities as a sincere dedication to the God : Pendet and Rejang dances are the performances accompanying a ritual which are associated with the art as mentioned above. Along the road one can see the wonderful, with its spectacular panorama. Mt. Batur at the distance Coffee plantation strectches like a carpet at the foot of the sky. High mountain with clouds in the sky indicates the fertility of mountainous nature. At the time the coffee plantations are flowering one can smell a fragrant odour that increase the desire to go to this village. All of these are the attraction for tourists visiting this site.
Batukaang is located at Kintamani district, Bangli Regency.
To get to this village, one has to reach about 60 km from the city or 35 km from Bangli and 18 km from the capital district.Batukaang village is accessable with any kinds of vehicles as the road is finely paved. However there are no accomodations. and restaurants available as this village has recently been introduced as a tourist object. There has been a public Health Centre to serve the local people surrounding so clean water is available for everyday needs.
