Medewi Beach
Having stoney beach andbig waves,Medewi has been considered as an ideal place for surfing. Its sloping part on the west with a bit receding to the South where a number of traditional rowing boat (jukung) tied up has made an amazing panorama mainly at thi time of sunset.
Sitting on the upper part of the beach, one can enjoy the wave splashing downward.
Location
Medewi Beach is located only about 100 m from the main road Denpasar-Gilimanuk. It can easily be reached from Denpasar which is about 72 km in distance within one and half hours drive. The beach belongs to Medewi village district of Pekutatan, Jembrana regency. Along the way, one can see extent of ricefield and harvesting time may be a very interesting thing to enjoy.
Facility
The road to Medewi Beach is quite excellent as it is also the road connecting Denpasar – Gilimanuk. There have been some accommodations available, restaurants completed with swimming – pool, toilet and parking lot, while souvenir – kiosk has not been available yet.
Tourist Visit
It is noted that visitor to Medewi Beach is increasing from year to year mainly those who come for surfing.
Description
Medewi Beach like the other beaches in Ball always has special attraction.The name Medewi is taken from the village where the beach is
located. It is assumpted that Medewi known as a settlement in 1912 when a group of people from Mendoyo Dauh Tukad village (west of Medewi) came as the first inhabitant. Before clearing away the location which was a forest full with thorny plants called “ketket”, the group of people then called the area Medewi (derived from “Meduwi” means thorny) forest. After the forest was cleared away and then become a settlement, the village then also named : Medewi as it is known nowadays
