Panti Timbrah Temple

Panti Timbrah Temple is located at Paksebali village, Dawan district. One interesting thing about this temple is when its anniversary celebration comes in every 210 days on Kuningan Holiday on which day a special event called “Perang Jempana” (fight of temple effigies) carried out.The event started with people in procession carrying temple effigies (as the Deities thrones with specific identities in colours: red, yellow, white, black and checker), on their shoulders, heading to the holy bathing-place at Segening Temple by Unda river. The fight starts at the time the procession is back from the holy bathing – place when the effigies carriers hit their bodies to one another in trance while carrying the effigies.
Magical situation created by hysterical screams of the temple followers as well while stabbing kris to their chests. This is to show that the series of ceremony during the temple anniversary celebration has been done accordingly. At the end of the ceremony, a sacred dance called “Lente” dance is performed by pre menstrual teenage girls.

Tourist Visit
This temple is frequently visited by foreign visitors/ espe-
cially during its anniversary celebration.

The tradition of “Perang Jempana” originally carried out at Gumang Temple, Karangasem regency brought to Klungkung by the temple followers when a princess of Karangasem got married to a noble prince, Dewa Agung Putra from Satria Kanginan village.
