Taman Sari Temple is also known as the holy place to keep and king to Kepakisan Dynasty as the ruler of Bali. Even though all the heirlooms had been robbed by the Dutch colonialist during “Puputan Klungkung” war in 1908, the ornament of “Padma Anglayang” (flying lotus) as the coat of arms of Majapahit Kingdom can still be found there. The temple was built by the end of XVII century at the time when the descendant of Kepakisan dynasty moved from Gelgel village to Klungkung and considered to be the top ruler of Ball. The most significant thing noted from Taman Sari Temple is this was the place when Ida I Dewa Agung Istri Kania, the heroin of Klungkung gave an order to counter the attack of the Dutch troops at Kusamba village in 1849.She made Taman Sari Temple as the head quarter of Klungkung troops and ordered the using of the sacred heirloom named “I Seliksik” to her troops. This mission was very successful in destroying the Dutch troops on Kusamba beach and their great loss was the death of General Michiels in that war. Since the renovation done in 1979 the temple and surroundings has been back to its original conditions
