History about Putung is almost unknown since there is no. manuscript ever left. However, the elderly told that long time ago this area belonged to Manggis traditional village. An epidemic spread up once upon a time, when a lot of peole lost their lives and no one cared about the neglected dead bodies. At a village named Bakung a corpse was found decaying and considered to make the village “leteh” (besmirched).
